Hazing, A Byron Hurt Film
Documentary Film
“Hazing”, from award-winning filmmaker Byron Hurt, offers a powerful, deeply personal look inside the culture of hazing on America’s college campuses. Hurt, a fraternity member himself, gives voice to members of both Black and historically white Greek-letter organizations, survivors of severe hazing, and families of young people who died during fraternity and sorority initiation rituals. Expertly weaving these moving first-hand testimonies with insights from violence-prevention experts and campus professional staff, the film provides a nuanced and empathetic portrait of a culture that often confers a sense of belonging even as it too often leads to violence, sexual degradation, binge drinking, institutional coverups, and debased notions of manhood. Hazing is an extraordinary teaching tool for educators and advocates working to reform hazing culture and combat campus violence – especially those interested in bystander-based violence prevention and larger institutional, social, and cultural issues involving race, gender, identity, alienation, and belonging.
cdeVision designed and developed a new website for the documentary film. The website showcases the film trailer, streaming purchase options, press mentions and information about the film and it’s creators.
This is the sixth website we have designed and developed for Media Education Foundation.
We’ve worked with Bill & Antonio on a number of different websites for our organization, and every time we’ve been happy with the result! Not only is Bill a good designer, he is also a great project manager who makes sure that the website stays on track and on target for your “go live” date. And problem-solver Antonio is quick and helpful at coming up with ways to integrate apps or existing tools your organization may already use into your site. Whether you have a clear vision of the website you want to create, or you need some help dreaming up an overall aesthetic and user experience, cdeVision will get you there!
